DAY TWO - WHAT WENT WRONG?

Suppose you were walking down the street, and out of no where I came and crash tackled you from behind. No warning, just BAM. As you look at me, so confused, I say, I just saved you. You would probably have some questions. The first being “From what?” In the same way, you might have some questions about what Jesus did for you, especially when we say Jesus Saves. Now, I’m sure one of the biggest questions you’re asking right now is “What went wrong?” “Why were we lost and why did we need finding?”

And so Here goes…We’re about to give you a very fast history and Bible lesson…Right at the beginning of time, God made humanity and he made us so that we could be close to him, in relationship with him. In fact, the Bible shows us that right at the beginning, God and human kind would literally walk together and hang out. Except, this is where things went wrong because humanity became corrupted or deceived and essentially thought they could be like God, and didn’t need him in life. And so we started to miss the mark, thats the picture you need to think of when you read the word sin…an arrow missing the target…and the very first target we missed was thinking we’d be able to live without God…And ever since, we’ve been lost in our own sin and mess…But that’s not the end of the story. God wasn’t done with humanity…God wasn’t done with you! Actually, God was so not done with us…He so loves us…and he so badly wants to be close with us..with you…that he made a way for us to be joined back to him. His way was Jesus. Jesus his son, Jesus the God man, Jesus the perfect one. We’ll talk more about Jesus tomorrow. But we didn’t have to earn God’s respect or love back, you don’t have to prove that you’re good enough. All you have to do is this

1. Realise that you’re far from God

2. Accept the free-gift of Grace that he offers to you by giving you Jesus

3. Have faith to believe that because of Jesus you can be close to God

Have a read of Ephesians 2:8-10. See what it says about faith and God’s grace and the fact that we don’t have to earn our relationship with him.
