DAY SIX - HOW DO I PRAY?

Welcome back. It’s been almost a week! We really hope you’ve enjoyed that beginning of your life with Jesus. Following Jesus changes literally everything in your life so don’t get too worried if you’re still trying to work it all out. A massive part of being a follower of Jesus is a thing called prayer. Prayer is talking to God. It’s that easy. Some people think you’ve gotta say a bunch of stuff just exactly right like some magic formula. Or that you have to memorise a bunch of prayers…but that’s not it at all! It’s seriously as simple as a convo with God. Like, if I wanted to find out more about a specific thing I’d go and talk to someone who is a pro at it….Well…prayer is you going to God, the one who made you, chose you, loves you, has a plan for you…the ultimate pro for everything about everything…and talking to him…telling him where you’re at, how you’re going…telling him how awesome and amazing he is…asking for his help and guidance….and so much more….Actually Jesus showed us how to pray in Matthew 6:5-8. Go have a look at that! Prayer is powerful! It connects you straight to God..there’s no delays…he doesn’t miss the call, he doesn’t leave you on seen…literally anytime you say “dear God, or “God, help” or anything like that..he’s there…listening…he hears you and knows you….One of my favourite Bible verses about prayer is Philippians 4:6. It makes it so easy to understand prayer. It’s your verse for today…and it says exactly this “don’t worry about anything. Instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he’s done.” You can do it. Why don’t you try straight after this. Thank him for one thing he’s done…you can even thank him that he loves you so much and that you get to follow him. Then tell him one thing you need. Maybe it’s wisdom for a big decision, maybe its healing cause you’re sick. You can tell him literally anything. Here are three hot tips for learning to pray.

1. Keep it simple: Remember, it doesn’t have to be complex. Just talk how you normally do.

2. Keep it real: Prayer is that place where we can be completely honest. God doesn’t need the neat and tidy, got it all together, fake you. He just wants you. Talk to Him about what’s really going on.

3. Keep it up: Jesus has made a way for us to live, walk and talk close to God. Prayer isn't just for when things are awesome or when things are awful. If you miss one day, don’t miss two! God loves when we talk with Him!
